Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, a foldable smartphone, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models during its tech event. The iPhone Duo features a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display when opened, making it the largest iPhone screen to date. It comes in two colors: Star White and Night Sky, with memory capacities ranging from 256 GB to 2 TB, starting at $1,999. The device includes dual cameras with 48-megapixel resolution, zero-shutter lag, and supports 4K 120 video. It also has two built-in batteries for all-day battery life and a titanium construction for durability. Preorders begin Oct. 16, with release on Oct. 23.
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models feature a new A20 Pro chip, improved battery life (36 hours for Pro, 45 hours for Pro Max), and a new 48-megapixel Fusion camera with a six-blade aperture. The Pro models start at $1,199 and $1,299 respectively, with colors including Black, Burgundy, Glacier, and Silver. Apple also introduced the Apple Watch Ultra 4 and Series 12, with the Ultra 4 offering extended battery life for outdoor activities. The new AirPods 5 feature active noise cancellation and wireless charging, priced at $129 and $149 respectively.
Apple emphasized its design prowess and innovation, positioning the iPhone Duo as a game-changer in the foldable phone market. Competitors like Samsung have already released foldable devices, but Apple aims to dominate through superior design and engineering. The event also highlighted Apple’s focus on AI integration, though Siri AI remains in beta beyond iOS 27’s release. Pricing for the new devices was lower than expected, with the iPhone Duo priced at $1,999 and the Pro models slightly higher than previous iterations.
